Playdeck
Project Budget: $0.5 million
Architect: Matthews Architects
Builder: TBA
The Playdeck of the WCH represents the only outdoor recreational area at the Hospital that patients, their families and staff can visit. Over the past two decades the Playdeck has suffered deterioration and neglect. It is subject to leaking and its aesthetic appeal is severely limited.
The proposed redevelopment plans to rectify, on a long-term basis, problems associated with both leaking of water to the floor below as well as the pooling of water on the surface.
In addition, the redevelopment will implement the design and construction of new recreation / play facilities for patients, consumers and staff on the Playdeck surface.
This project will transform the Playdeck into an attractive, functional facility for all users with the capacity to be utilised for greater periods throughout the year.
The McGuiness McDermott Foundation are supporting Stage 2 of the Playdeck redevelopment.

Kids N You Family Services
Project Budget: $0.56 million
Architect: Totalspace Design
Builder: TBA
The primary function of the Kids N You Family Service is to support families in raising children in safe nurturing environments. It does so through a strengths based approach and utilising narrative/feminist ideas.
The Kids N You service is currently located at the Elizabeth Grove Primary School (Haynes Road, Elizabeth Grove) and the project is a joint health/education initiative to provide accommodation for the Service.
A refit of the existing premises will commence in January 2005 and it is anticipated that the newly furbished centre will be open for business in July. Services will continue to operate out of the same site during refurbishment.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Project Budget: $0.5 million
Funding: South Australian Government
Architect: Cheesman Architects Pty Ltd
Builder: Brimblecombe Pty Ltd
Completion: 2 November 2004
The purpose of the upgrade is to reduce overcrowding and improve infection control capabilities and operating efficiencies. The expansion also provides upgraded facilities for patients, parents and staff who work in the units. Total bed capacity remains unchanged but the improvements give the unit increased flexibility to accommodate more babies as the need arises.

The Corner House
The Corner House (Tier 3 South), a community-based family support service, is part of the Children, Youth and Women’s Health Service and funded by the Social Inclusion Unit. Three community health workers and an Aboriginal community health worker provide intervention programs both in families’ homes through home visiting as well as in the community. It is open between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
The Corner House works alongside families, emphasising their strengths and capacities and providing resources in ways that compliment people’s skills. Families are referred through Children, Youth and Family Services (CYFS) Aberfoyle Park and Noarlunga District Centre, and must have been given a Tier 3 notification (family need is high and without intervention the children are at high risk of further abuse or neglect).
