The South Australian Neonatal Screening Centre provides screening to detect rare, but serious health problems in newborn infants, often before there is any sign that a problem exists. Early diagnosis means that appropriate treatment can be given to greatly reduce and often prevent entirely the effects of the problem for the rest of the child’s life.
