PROTOCOL SUBMISSIONS FOR MULTI-CENTRE RESEARCH ARCOSS SA PUBLIC HEALTH SYSTEMNEW Process effective 2 April 2012
To support a consistent approach to the management and administration of human research ethics and research governance across the South Australian public health system, SA Health has developed two new policies and a new application process, effective 2 April 2012. One key initiative being introduced is a single scientific and ethical review for multi-site research being undertaken across SA Health sites. The Single Review Model is intended to simplify the process for researchers who would normally need to seek ethics approval through multiple committees. Further information on this initiative can be located in the Research Ethics Operational Policy. A new requirement for those undertaking research within the South Australian public health system is the completion of a site specific assessment form (SSA). The SSA is designed to assess research governance considerations that apply to a proposed research project. The introduction of this form is designed to promote greater rigour in the area of research governance. Further information on this initiative can be located in the Research Governance Policy. Further information on making an application to a human research ethics committee (HREC) within the South Australian public health system can be located at the SA Health Research Ethics website.
