Central Sterile Supply

Central Sterile supply provides a disinfection, packing and sterilisation service for all clinical and surgical areas of the WCH  for the safe management of patient care items, and also provides a sterilisation service for other hospitals.   High volume washers, ultrasonic washers, high vacuum steam sterilizers are used.  A wide range of quality assurance tests are undertaken every day.

The Medical Decontamination Unit cleans medical equipment such as infant incubators and kangaroo pumps for the children's wards.  Standard Australia's "Code of Practice for Cleaning, Disinfecting and Sterilising Reusable Medical and Surgical Instruments and Equipment, and Maintenance of Associated Environments in Health Care Facilities", AS 4187-1998 is used.

General Business 7.30am - 9pm Monday to Friday

7.30am - 4pm Saturday

On call service on Sundays
