Mallee Ward (formerly Boylan Ward) is one of a number of areas to be redeveloped and has now re-launched with a modern facility.
Mallee Ward is the only designated psychiatric inpatient facility for children and adolescents in South Australia and provides specialised care and support for children and adolescents with severe mental health problems who
Mallee Ward uses a three phase model of intervention.
Mallee Ward has developed a series of Key Performance Indicators.
How to Access Our Service
Mallee Ward provides inpatient services for children and adolescents from metropolitan Adelaide and from rural and remote parts of South Australia and some rural sites such as, APY lands in Northern Territory, Broken Hill in NSW and Mildura in Victoria. Children and adolescents between 3 and 17 years who have complex problems requiring further assessment to determine diagnosis and treatment needs may be admitted.
Most services for children 12 years and under will comprise planned admissions for assessment purposes. The timing of these admissions may need to be altered if at any time the mix of current inpatients is considered to be inappropriate for the admission of younger children.
