CAMHS Family Partnership Team

The CAMHS Family Partnerships Team (Tier 2 Child Protection Team)  provides services to families where confirmed child abuse has occurred.  The service aims to help parents

  • change abusive behaviour
  • understand the impact of abuse on their child/children's mental health
  • improve children's mental health
  • strengthen families against the recurrence of abuse

Family Partnership Team services include

  • individual counselling
  • family counselling
  • negotiated home or office based visits

Working with families, the goals of the partnership include

  • addressing family violence
  • developing respectful relationships
  • exploring parenting issues
  • developing safety plans

The Family Partnerships Team works in partnership with the family and other agencies such as

  • Department for Families and Communities (formerly FAYS)
  • WCH Child Protection Services
  • Community CAMHS Teams

The team provides intervention and therapy with families who meet the following criteria

  • Confirmed Tier 2 notification for one or more children in the family
  • Mental Health issues for the children as a result of the abuse
  • The family is willing to engage with the service

How to access our service

Referrals are received from

  • Northern Metropolitan and Northern Country Department for Families and Communities District Centres
  • WCH Child Protection Services
  • Northern CAMHS offices
