Educational Services for Community Groups or Health OrganisationsHelen Mayo staff are involved in the provision of education regarding postnatal psychiatric illness. With forward planning, most staff members are available for in-service lectures, group discussions etc for health organisationsor community groups. A telephone advice service is available for people seeking up to date information about community supports for postnatal depression, reading material, information about drugs for postnatal psychiatric problems in pregnancy and with breastfeeding. Helen Mayo House staff also run an annual conference on issues associated with postnatal psychiatric illness and mother-infant mental health. For more information please phone (08) 8303 1183. Community Support ServicesHelen Mayo staff are able to attend postnatal depression support groups, either for specific educational input or to provide regular support. Staff conduct occasional seminars on telephone counselling to the South Australian self-help support group for postnatal depression, Overcoming Post-Natal Depression (OPND).
