CAMHS Western Community Team provides services to people who live in the western suburbs of Adelaide. The region extends along the seaboard from Anzac Highway and West Beach at the southern border to Outer Harbour and Wingfield to the north and as far as the parklands, Fitzroy Terrace and Churchill Road to the east. The Aboriginal Mental Health Partnership is involved in developing and providing services to Aboriginal children, young people and families who are at risk of developing severe mental health problems and young people who are involved in, or at high risk of becoming involved in the juvenile justice system where there are concerns about their mental health and emotional wellbeing. How to Access Our ServiceParents and guardians may telephone or visit the CAMHS service closest to them. Adolescents over 16 years of age may contact CAMHS without parent or guardian consent or knowledge. School Counsellors, General Practitioners and other service providers may also contact CAMHS however contact from the parent/guardian or young person (if over 16 years of age) is usually required to formalise the referral. The main office is in Dale Street Port Adelaide, which is easily reached by public transport. Outreach services are provided from the Parks Community Health Service with appointments available all day Wednesdays and Thursdays and at other times during the week through negotiation. In Port Adelaide speech pathology outreach services are provided at the Kera Yerlo Aboriginal Child Care Centre once a fortnight. Services are provided free of charge and an initial consultation appointment is arranged as soon as possible to discuss parents or young peoples concerns and determine the level and type of service that might be required to address these concerns Interpreter services can be arranged for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds Information for FamiliesMetropolitan Community Services
