Adolescent Ward

Adolescent Ward

Adolescent Ward is a 16 bed ward for young people over the age of 12.  Patients receive care from a wide range of medical and surgical staff including respiratory, general medicine, endocrine, general surgery, orthopaedics, neurology, gastroenterology and rehabilitation specialists. Ward staff aim to meet the special needs of adolescents, as well as caring for their physical health needs.

The ward provides a friendly environment for adolescents and their families. Nursing Staff wear uniform for weekday early shifts only, and wear casual clothes on late and night shifts and weekends.

Patients are admitted to Adolescent Ward through the Paediatric Emergency Department, Outpatients Clinics or, in the case of post trauma patients for rehabilitation, transfer from other hospitals .

Staff of Adolescent Ward work closely with other areas of the hospital and with community agencies.  This collaboration is assisted by the Hospital Links Program.

The ward has a team of permanent nursing staff and offers placements to nursing students, graduates and post graduates.
