An orthosis is a single external body support that can be applied to any part of the body to help musculo-skeletal problems. Designs and materials vary depending on the particular problem but othoses are generally lightweight, durable and as cosmetic as possible. Orthotic staff assess patients and then design, measure, supply and fit orthotic appliances. The staff also provide education and follow-up in the management of orthotic devices.
