General Practice Liaison Unit

The General Practice Liaison Unit (GPLU) at the Women's and Children's Hospital is a patient care initiative to improve coordination of care for South Australian children living with chronic conditions, and to support GPs and their teams in the management of paediatric conditions more generally. The GPLU has been established through a partnership between the Adelaide Primary Health Network (PHN), Country SA PHN and the Women's and Children's Health Network.

The GPLU aims to strengthen communication and integration between the Hospital and treating GPs, giving children the best possible care.

The members of the GPLU are:

  • Dr Helena Williams, GP Liaison Officer is also a practising GP in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia and the Chair of the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care's Primary Care Committee. She has had a lot of experience working in the space of GP and hospital integration and is really excited to be a part of the GPLU.
  • Nicole Kelly, Nurse Consultant (Care Coordinator) is a Registered Nurse and Midwife who has worked at the Women's and Children's Hospital for 17 years. Nicole has previously managed two of the paediatric units at the Women's and Children's Hospital and has a strong commitment to the delivery of safe and quality healthcare. She is passionate about paediatric nursing and dedicated to improving the health outcomes of young children and adolescents.
  • Kathryn Hall, Executive Assistant is an experienced SA Health employee with previous roles including the development of SA Health policy, providing administrative advice and support to SA members of national Health councils and extensive office management/assistant experience for SA Health Executive. She is passionate about community health care, in particular supporting parents and young children with coordinating health/mental health care to achieve a positive outcome for families, delivered in a community or primary care setting.

And all three of us are mums!
