Department of Neurology

The Neurology Department provides tertiary level medical diagnostic and treatment services for children with neurological disorders.

Diagnostic Services include:

  • Specialist neurological consultations
  • Diagnostic electrophysical services which include:   
    • Electro-encephalography
    • Electromyography
    • CNS Evoked Potentials

Treatment services are provided at a specialist neurologist level.

How to access the service

Patients are accepted by direct referral from registered medical practitioners only. Normally referrals must be from a medical or surgical specialist dealing with children.  Referrals are accepted from general practitioners working in non-metropolitan areas, and in emergency situations. (In the latter case, telephone consultation is advisable).

Hours

General Business 9am to 5pm Monday - Friday

For emergencies, a Consultant Neurologist is available for consultation with referring medical practitioners on a 24 hour 7 day basis.
