Department of Paediatrics, University of AdelaideThe Department of Paediatrics, University of Adelaide has its facilities located entirely at the WCH. It has extensive collaborations with many departments at the Hospital and the Child Health Research Institute. It also has extensive national and international collaborations. The Department contributes to medical undergraduate teaching in all years of the University of Adelaide undergraduate teaching programs in medicine. In their 5th year, medical students attend the WCH for a nine week full time placement. The Department has strong clinical, public health and basic science research programs undertaken by its own staff, and has a significant number of undergraduate and postgraduate research activities. Currently 40 PhD and three honours students work in a wide variety of departments and affiliated institutions within the Hospital. Significant research areas are in the disciplines of:
