DentistryThe Paediatric (children's) Dental Unit provides a wide range of dental services for eligible children including
The Unit runs daily outpatient clinics and daily theatre lists . Phone advice is available when possible. Dental Staff work collaboratively with the SA School Dental Service (SADS), the University of Adelaide and private dental practitioners. The Unit is involved in teaching dentistry, with lectures to nursing, medical, dental undergraduate and postgraduate students in clinics, operating theatre sessions and research. How to access the serviceAppointments are by referral only from medical or dental practitioners addressed to the Dental Unit Head. For appointments contact the Paediatric Dental Unit receptionist phone (08) 8161 7379 between 9am and 4pm weekdays. The cost of dental treatment is not covered by Medicare. Charges may apply for some treatments. For general dental assessment, the School Dental Service is available to children from birth to 17 years, unless they are working and do not have a health care or pension card.
