Women's Social WorkSocial Workers promote the quality of life for women and their families by:
Social workers provide services for inpatients and outpatients in the areas of antenatal, postnatal and gynaecological care and the Family Advisory Unit. How to Access the ServiceAny patient may contact Women's Social Work directly by telephone or in person. Referrals for social work assistance can also be made by any member of the hospital treating team and by community agencies. It is highly preferable that referrals to a WCH Social Worker are made with the patient's knowledge and agreement. People should feel free to speak to a social worker for advice on the best way of referring. Individual social workers make their own arrangements regarding availability out of hours. An after hours service for crisis situations is available by contacting the Hospital Coordinator via the hospital switchboard (08) 8161 7000.
