Speech PathologyWCH Speech Pathologists work in the areas of
Speech Pathologists work with other allied health staff, other hospital staff and with community agencies and others involved in the care of children. Services are provided for inpatients and outpatients. How to access the serviceOnly children with specific medical conditions are eligible to use the WCH speech therapy services. Eligibility also depends on where you live. Children being treated by the WCH for a medical condition are also eligible for Speech Pathology at the WCH. For other children, the WCH complements the services provided by community health centres and the Department of Education and Children’s Services. Written referrals are accepted from WCH doctors, private paediatricians and general practitioners. We will let you know your appointment time once we have received the referral. Information for familiesAfter an initial assessment is made, a management plan is developed. Outpatients often attend weekly therapy sessions.
