The Corner HouseThe Corner House (Tier 3 South) is a community based family support service, funded by the Social Inclusion Unit, and is part of the Children, Youth and Women’s Health Service. The Corner House has three community health workers and an Aboriginal Community Health worker who provide an intervention program both in families’ homes through home visiting, and in the community at various points in children and families’ lives, where risk factors have been identified or before further problems arise. The Corner House works alongside families, emphasizing their strengths and capacities and providing resources in ways that compliment people’s skills. This practice recognises people’s ability to be their own agents of change. Much emphasis is also placed on building on the strengths of families and communities to create change in their environment, increasing social connectedness, broadening network supports and enhancing social belonging. Services Provided to eligible families:
Eligibility: Families are referred to The Corner Houser through Children, Youth and Family Services (CYFS) Aberfoyle Park and Noarlunga District Centres, and must have been given a Tier 3 notification. This means that the need in the family is high and that without intervention, the children are at risk of further abuse or neglect.
