Health Promoting Schools
The program aims to improve the health of
South Australian children by assisting schools to provide supportive
environments for learning and health, by
- Increasing awareness about the Health Promoting Schools
approach among school communities, agencies and service providers working
with schools.
- Increasing schools' capacity for developing, implementing
and evaluating health promoting school initiatives.
How we do it
- Facilitate and work in partnership with other key agencies
to develop, deliver and evaluate Health Promoting Schools support strategies
for school communities.
- Develop and disseminate information, resource materials and
tools to assist and support schools.
- Conduct state-wide professional development including
introductory and planning workshops for school communities and agencies.
- Adminster a health promotion grants scheme to schools.
- Provide opportunities for networking and sharing of
information among school communities through annual HPS forums and an
electronic communication site.
- Work with others to promote health promotion initiatives
within school communities.
Evaluation
- Process and impact evaluation conducted via surveys and
interviews to determine how successful each strategy has been to achieve the
aims of the project.
- Evaluation reports available on request.
