Our new Child and Adolescent Mental Health Inpatient Unit Redevelopment is now complete, with young people moving into the new space from Monday, 29 March.
Mallee has been selected as the new name for Boylan ward as it is native to South Australia, and its meaning (the Mallee root refreshes and rejuvenates) is something that resonates well with our young people and staff.
Boylan staff, consumers and Father Boylan's family were all involved in the renaming and design process for our wonderful new space.
Mallee ward is located on the 2nd Floor of the Good Friday Building. Key features include:
- A purpose-built high dependant low stimulus unit
- 12 individual patient rooms with ensuites and natural light
- Consult spaces
- A sensory room
- A large indoor recreation space with gym equipment and a table tennis table, lounge and dining spaces
- Multiple quiet rooms
- A kitchen and laundry
- An outdoor courtyard with a kitchen garden and basketball ring
- A family lounge.
The new Mallee Ward remains the only Child and Adolescent Mental Health Inpatient Service in South Australia.
This redevelopment is part of the $50 Million Upgrade Project so we can continue to provide the highest quality of care while planning continues for our new hospital.
