National Referral Laboratory for Lysosomal, Peroxisomal and Other Related Disorders

The National Referral Laboratory provides a national and international diagnostic service for a range of inherited metabolic disorders, focussing predominantly on the lysosomal storage disorders and peroxisomal disorders.

Neonatal Growth and Development Program

Our Neonatal Growth and Development Program supports families with the smallest and sickest of babies admitted to the Neonatal Nursery.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

NICU is where a transdisciplinary team cares for babies who require respiratory support, central line management and continuous observation. These babies may be born ill and/or prematurely.

Neonatal Nursery Redevelopment

Stage Two of the Neonatal Nursery Redevelopment is now complete, with our new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit ready to welcome its first patients.

Newland Ward

Newland provides care to babies, children and teenagers admitted for elective or emergency surgical care.

Non-Medicare patients (Medicare-Ineligible Patients)

If you do not have a Medicare card, you will be required to pay for all hospital services received at the Women's and Children's Hospital. This includes, but is not limited to, outpatient, emergency department and admitted care.

Nuclear Medicine

Nuclear Medicine is a medical specialty that uses very small amounts of radioactive substances, (also called "tracers") to diagnose or treat disease. It is one way of acquiring images of the body, like x-rays and ultrasound.
