SA Maternal Serum Antenatal Screening Program

SAMSAS aims to provide information and support to obstetricians, general practitioners and midwives as they manage the pregnancies under their care. SAMSAS liaises with ultrasonographers, health centres, antenatal clinics and counselling supports.

Support After Fetal Diagnosis of Abnormality (SAFDA), based at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, offers counselling and resources for families before and after termination of pregnancy due to fetal abnormalities.

SAMI provides a range of imaging services for children at the WCH. SAMI's staff include nurses, radiologists, radiographers, sonographers, nuclear medicine physicians, nuclear medicine technologists, physicists and administrative staff.

Safety and Quality Unit

The Safety and Quality Unit supports the safety and quality systems of the Women's and Children's Health Network.

Skin Conditions

The Dermatology Department treats children with common skin conditions including psoriasis, eczema, warts, molluscum contagiosum and acne. We also deal with birth marks and rare inherited conditions involving hair, skin and nail changes.

Sleep Clinic (The Breathing Space)

The Breathing Space is the only respiratory health and disease referral centre for children (aged 0-18 years) in SA and the NT. We specialise in assessing and treating all types of respiratory disease, and provide specialised lung function testing.

Special Care Baby Unit

The Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) is a 35-bed unit caring for babies needing short and long term observation and specialised care. SCBU also provides a Neonatal Early Discharge (NED) program.

Speech Pathology

WCH Speech Pathologists work in the areas of speech, language, fluency, voice and feeding. They work with other allied health staff, hospital staff, and community agencies involved in the care of children.

Spiritual Care, Chaplains and Sacred Space

The Spiritual Care Team, including Chaplains and volunteers, who have completed accredited training, provide pastoral and spiritual care for patients, families and staff.

Starlight Express Room

Starlight Express Rooms are filled with fun and laughter and feel a world away from the reality of hospital. It's where Captain Starlight helps kids forget about everything they're going through and just be kids.

Stomach, Liver and Nutritional Problems

The Gastroenterology Unit provides a state-wide service in gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition for infants, children and adolescents under 18 years of age.

Stomal Therapy

The Stomal Therapy service provides quality care to children with a range of needs such as: stoma care; urology care; wound care.
