A new technique for a tricky procedure, improving lives through the early detection of a common condition and the incredible efforts of front-line vaccination workers are among the winners of the 2021 WCHN Excellence Awards – Create Together.

The awards were announced at a ceremony on Friday, 24 September, attended by the Minister for Health and Wellbeing Stephen Wade, Network leaders, Governing Board members, staff, volunteers and consumers.

Our charity partner, the Women’s and Children’s Hospital Foundation and their corporate partners Studer Group and The Police Credit Union, proudly sponsored the night.

Lindsey Gough, CEO Women’s and Children’s Health Network (WCHN), says she’s proud of all the organisation has achieved in the past 18 months, all while caring for South Australians during a pandemic.

“The awards evening was a fantastic showcase of our incredible staff and the work they do to improve the lives of South Australian families each and every day.

“In spite of and, in some cases, due to the global pandemic, we have been able to make huge strides forward in many areas of our Network.”

These were highlighted by awards for our Telehealth team, Engineering team and the winner of the CEO Award for Excellence in Health care the COVID-19 Vaccination Clinical team.

“The Vaccination team set up three clinics, worked with CALHN in the setting up of the Wayville vaccination clinic and administered more than 55, 000 doses in 6 months – which is a fantastic achievement.”

The Vaccination team also won the CREATE award, for the team or individual which exemplifies our Network’s values of Compassion, Respect, Accountability and working Together for Excellence.

There were 23 finalists across 9 categories and you can view all the finalists and winners here.

Thank you to all those who celebrated on the night and to the South Australian community for your support of our healthcare workers through the pandemic and beyond.
