After spending three weeks at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, 4-year-old Armita (left) was offered a family pass to the Adelaide Zoo, at the suggestion of Play Therapist, Linda, who thought a day out would be valuable for Armita and her loved ones.

“Armita’s Dad said they had a wonderful day seeing all the animals. They had perfect weather and were so thankful for the tickets that enabled them to spend such a special time together as a family,” Linda said.

For over 15 years, Zoos SA have donated family passes to the Women’s and Children’s Health Network for families such as Armita’s, with Linda witnessing the benefits firsthand.

“It relieves stress and anxiety, gives a healthy dose of vitamin D, brings families a sense of normality and creates special memories. For some of our remote or overseas patients, they might have also never been to a zoo before or seen many animals, so it’s an amazing experience for them.”

On behalf of the Network Linda would like to thank Zoos SA:

“You are amazing for what you do for patients who have often been in hospital for weeks, or even months. You have brought many smiles and so much happiness to our families. Thank you so much!”
