The Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology Department provides tertiary level medical diagnostic and treatment services for children with neurological disorders. Our mission is to provide contemporary, patient-focussed clinical care and diagnostic services for children and adolescents with neurological disorders, in an equitable and timely manner.

Diagnostic Services include:

  • Specialist neurological consultations
  • Diagnostic electrophysical services which include:
    • Electro-encephalography (EEG)
    • Inpatient Video EEG Monitoring
    • Ambulatory EEG Monitoring
    • Electromyography
    • Nerve Conduction
    • CNS Evoked Potentials

Treatment services are provided at a specialist neurologist level.

How to access the service

Patients are accepted by direct referral from registered medical practitioners. Families are requested to contact their local doctor should they believe referral is indicated for their child. Medical practitioners are requested to consult the Neurology service referral guidelines:

The department reception can be contacted by calling (08) 8161 7308.

Hours

General Business: 9am to 4.30pm, Monday – Friday

For emergencies, a Consultant Neurologist is available for consultation with referring medical practitioners on a 24-hour 7-day basis.

Request for an electrophysiology diagnostic procedure

To make a request for electrophysiology diagnostic procedure, medical practitioners are required to:

  • Download and print the WCHN Neurology Electrophysiology Request Form. This form can be completed electronically prior to printing, signing and faxing through to the Department'
  • Fill out the form with appropriate details and fax completed form to (08) 8161 6224.
