If Your Child is Having Surgery
We understand that coming to hospital can be stressful and your child may be anxious. Our aim is to help you and your child prepare for their surgery or procedure and their stay in hospital whether it be as a day only patient or a longer stay.
Elective Pre-Admission Coordinator/Surgical Services
The Elective Pre-Admission Coordinator (EPAC) assists in identifying patients with potential clinical, physical and/or emotional concerns prior to admission and assists with the additional planning required by some patients coming in for a surgical procedure.
This includes facilitating nursing and medical assessments or investigations required prior to admission, developing individual support plans for patients who may have additional needs on and during admission.
Pre-planning assists in ensuring the patient and family are well prepared for the hospital stay, streamlines the recovery phase and discharge process and decreases anxiety overall.
