Acknowledgement
The Women's and Children's Hospital is located on the traditional lands for the Kaurna people, and we respect their spiritual relationship with their Country. Food, Drinks and Shops

Nic Nath Cafe

The Women's and Children's Hospital has a number of cafés and shops where food and drinks can be purchased. Flowers and gifts are also available.

EFTPOS is available at all our cafés and shops, including both Cafés, Rainbows Kiosk and Vic's Coffee Shop.

Places to eat or buy food at the WCH

The Café

The Café on the second floor of the Gilbert Building, run by Nutrition and Food Services, serves a variety of nutritious hot and cold meals. The Café is open 7.30am – 7.00pm every day. Lunch and Dinner menus change daily. Hot meals, soups, healthy salads, sandwiches, rolls and snacks are available.

Grab and Go Meals newspapers and beside Telstra entertainment vouchers may be purchased from the 2nd floor Café.

Butterfly Card

Long-term patients (both women and children) and their families can be issued with a Butterfly Card, entitling them to 10% discount on food and drinks purchased from the WCH Café.

Patients and families entitled to the Butterfly Card include those who:

  • are expected to stay for more than one week
  • have frequent admissions, outpatient, day patient or therapy bookings over 12 months
  • have five or more outpatient, day patient or therapy bookings in a 30-day period.

Ask your nurse or midwife, or a member of your health care team to organise your card.

Nic Nath Café on The Playdeck

Nic Nath Café on the Playdeck, also run by Nutrition and Food Services, provides fresh and healthy food in a fun and relaxed setting.

Opening Hours: Monday to Friday, 7.30am – 2:30pm (closed on weekends and public holidays)

On the menu:

  • Locally roasted espresso coffee
  • Smoothies
  • Fresh healthy salads
  • A range of Foccacias, Sandwiches & Baguettes
  • Pizza
  • Gelati... and much more!

Rainbows Shop

Updated 2 August – Rainbows in now open, with a limited menu

Rainbows Shop is situated in the Kermode Street foyer. The shop sells a variety of freshly made food and drinks including sandwiches, snack foods and barista-made coffee. It also sells flowers, gifts, cards, magazines and toys.

Opening Hours: Monday to Friday: 7:00am – 4.30pm (closed on weekends and public holidays)

Funds raised support the WCH.

Vic's Coffee Shop

Updated 27 July – Vic's is now open, with a limited menu

Vic's Coffee Shop is situated in the Queen Victoria Building foyer. Vic's sells a variety of freshly made food and drinks including sandwiches, snacks and barista-made coffee. It also sells Metrocards, flowers, gifts, magazines, toiletries and baby items.

Opening Hours: Monday to Friday: 9.00am – 5.30pm.

Funds raised support the WCH.

Vending machines

There is 24 hour supply of healthy foods available in two vending machines situated in the hospital at the Kermode Street entrance and 2nd Floor Gilbert Building (next to the Café). There are various other vending machines located throughout the hospital.

Near the WCH

Delicatessens, hotels, cafes and restaurants

If you are looking for a meal outside the Hospital, there are many delicatessens, hotels, cafes and restaurants in North Adelaide. O'Connell Street and Melbourne Street have a variety of eating options and are within walking distance.

The free Adelaide Connector bus service travels along O'Connell Street and Melbourne Street.

Supermarkets

The closest supermarket is Foodland in North Adelaide Village (O'Connell Street). There is a seven-day supermarket slightly further up O'Connell Street.

Flowers and Gifts

Rainbows Shop and Vic's Coffee Shop both sell flowers and gifts.

There are several shops on O'Connell Street, North Adelaide that sell flowers and gifts. Rundle Mall shopping precinct is a 15-minute walk or a short bus ride south of the Hospital.
