Home Equipment Centre – Women
Home Equipment Centre supplies equipment to patients of the WCH so they may be cared for at home, rather than in hospital. Items supplied include consumables such as syringes, feeding lines and dressings, and hire equipment such as breast pumps.
The Home Equipment Centre (HEC) supplies consumables and equipment to hospital patients that have acute or chronic conditions.
How to access this service
Equipment and Consumables from the Home Equipment Centre are only available to patients of this hospital.
A HEC referral form must be completed by a Women’s and Children’s Hospital (WCH) Clinician.
The referral should be emailed to the Home Equipment Centre by the clinician completing the referral. In some circumstances where the consumables are needed urgently you may be asked to bring the referral to us.
You can now reorder your monthly consumables by completing the online form below:
This order form can only be used by existing patients of Women’s and Children’s hospital, with a current referral to the Home Equipment Centre.

Deposits for equipment
You must pay a refundable deposit before collecting hire equipment.
The Home Equipment Centre is a registered NDIS provider.

It is the responsibility of the referring clinician to give you clinical training and education for the consumables and equipment you are using.
If you are having issues with your equipment you should contact the Equipment Coordinator during working hours (the name and number will be on your hire agreement).
The HEC staff can assist in replacing the equipment if the Equipment Coordinator advises this. If it is an emergency you should call 000 or present to the Paediatric Emergency Department.
Service of Equipment
Electrical equipment that you are hiring needs regular preventative maintenance. You will be contacted when the equipment is due for service and you must return the equipment to the Home Equipment Centre as soon as possible. Replacement equipment will be issued if needed.
