Antenatal Education

At the Women's and Children's Hospital we offer free antenatal education and support to mothers who have birthed or are planning to birth with us.

COVID-19 or Coronavirus has been declared a global pandemic, and the Women's and Children's Health Network is doing everything in its power to ensure the safety of our staff and consumers.

Our COVID-19 Response

At the Women's and Children's Hospital we offer free antenatal education and support to mothers who have birthed or are planning to birth with us.

For women who have birthed or are birthing at another South Australian hospital, please contact your birthing hospital for more information about the support provided at each individual site.

Consistent with current government and health recommendations, we are conducting education sessions online. These sessions are held over 2 weeks for 1 hour on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesdays.

Week 1:
Labour, Birth, Active Labour/Birth, Sensation and Pain Management

Week 2:
Assisted Birth, Induction, Baby-Breastfeeding, First hours and first few days, Sleep, Settling and Postnatal Support

To register and secure a spot, please forward your details and include your class preference, to Health.WCHNParentEducation@sa.gov.au.

Class preference:

  • Monday: 6–7pm or 8–9pm
  • Tuesday: 4–5pm or 6–7pm
  • Wednesday: 4–5pm or 6–7pm or 8–9pm

Special education classes – Tuesday: 8–9pm

  • Waterbirth
  • Caesarean / VBAC
  • Birth Again

Please email your class preference and the following details to the parent education team to complete your booking:

  • WCH Hospital UR Number
  • Partner's/support person's name
  • Estimated due date
  • Mobile number

Please allow up to 5 days for a response from the educator.
