The Women's and Children's Hospital is located on the traditional lands for the Kaurna people, and we respect their spiritual relationship with their Country. Women's Anaesthesia

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Anaesthesia provides anaesthetics for elective and emergency surgery, and pain relief for labour, as well as other types of support for women.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Anaesthesia provides:

  • anaesthetics for elective and emergency surgery
  • analgesia for labour
  • analgesia for other acute and pain management including a post operative pain service
  • resuscitation
  • a consultative role for high dependency patients
  • an obstetric and perinatal retrieval service.

The Department works with the University of Adelaide in teaching anaesthesia trainees, undergraduates and other health care professionals.
