Home Equipment Centre supplies equipment to patients of the WCH so they may be cared for at home, rather than in hospital. Items supplied include consumables such as syringes, feeding lines and dressings, and hire equipment such as breast pumps and suction units.
Home Equipment staff coordinates supply of equipment required for patient care based on the referral from WCH clinicians. Prior to collection of items, WCH clinicians will provide education to clients about safe and correct use of equipment. Written information or instructions may be provided by clinicians as well. Goods are collected by client from the Home Equipment Centre. Alternatively, country clients can have their consumables delivered by Australia post which will incur postage fee payable by client.
Hire Equipment is regularly serviced and service due date can be found on the equipment sticker. Clients should bring equipment for replacement before the service due date. For any questions regarding hired equipment, clients can contact person listed on the hire agreement form. Consumables have a use-by date, which can be found on the packaging. Clients should ensure before use that all consumables used at home are within this use-by date.
Home Equipment Centre does not accept referrals for equipment or consumables issued by other Hospitals and GP's.
