What is CAMHS Connect?

CAMHS Connect is a centralised service for triaging all incoming referrals to CAMHS Community Teams. CAMHS Connect is staffed by an experienced multidisciplinary team who assist children, young people and their families in determining whether CAMHS is the best fit for their mental health needs.

How does CAMHS Connect work?

We receive enquiries from young people, parents and carers, General Practitioners, Paediatricians, public sector and private providers, school staff, or any other person regarding referral into CAMHS. Wherever possible and practical, referrals are with the knowledge of the legal guardian of the young person concerned.

CAMHS Connect triages on the basis of CAMHS focus being providing care for children and young people with moderate to severe and complex emotional, behavioural or mental health difficulties.

We assist with making an appointment for a client at the most convenient CAMHS location, or whenever possible, recommend alternative supports.

Although the first point of contact for most enquiries, CAMHS Connect does not replace the work of CAMHS Community Teams to reach children and young people from vulnerable backgrounds.
