WCHN Research Week 2023

Research 1

WCHN’s inaugural Research Week will be held from Wednesday 25 until Friday 27 October 2023.

This three-day event showcases the exciting future of research, the impressive wealth of talent and world-leading expertise at our Network.

Research week starts with an immersive community day at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital followed by two days of collaboration, information sharing and networking at our Research Symposium at Adelaide Oval.

Registrations will open in late August and all activities will be complementary for staff working at WCHN.

Research Community Day – Wednesday 25 October – Women’s and Children’s Hospital

The Research Community Day will begin with an address from Her Excellency the Governor of SA, Mrs Francis Adamson AO, followed by the first Community Day Oration.

There will be children’s activities in the Starlight Room and Hospital School, a WCH Foundation sponsored artist in residence for the day, morning tea, lunch, and a Grand Round for staff to attend.

Research Symposium – Thursday 26 and Friday 27 October – Adelaide Oval

The Thursday afternoon program will commence with a Keynote Address from Professor John Prins, Executive Director, Health Translation Queensland.

This will be followed by sessions on “Research in South Australia and beyond”, “Research Strategy: Embedding research to enable change”, “Seeking the best start to life” and “Delivering better outcomes for our community”.

Friday will begin with a workshop for trainees and other early career researchers on “How to get your research project started”.

After lunch, sessions include “Discovering new treatments and technologies” and “Seeking answers for challenging diseases”, and a panel discussion on “Changing the future of child health”.

The Symposium will also include publication awards and will close with drinks and canapés on Friday evening.
