Children and Families Integration Service

Children and Families Integration Service is a flexible child and family development program which intervenes early for families with complex issues either during pregnancy or during the important early years of a child’s life. Families eligible for the service need to be experiencing medium to high levels of active adversity, be pregnant or have a child 3 years or younger and live in the north or western metropolitan suburbs.

The service adopts a strength based approach which assists families to build on their strengths and develop protective factors to reduce the level of adversity the family and children are experiencing. The service provides guidance to families to strengthen their child-parent relationship and supports the family to access other services which can meet the needs of the family.

The service allocates a key worker to each family and provides intensive one to one support and case coordination.

Group programs offered by the service focus on the following areas:

  • Early childhood learning sessions through play.
  • Attachment and relationship building between parent and child.
  • Understanding developmental milestones.
  • Developing parenting skills to deal with challenging behaviours.
  • Self development sessions for parents to strengthen their capacity to deal with adverse situations.

The service provides support to fathers within the community through a range of specific or focused group and fathering activities.
